    Default Pierce Contender

Does anyone know if the rumor that pierce will build 75' Contender aerials is true? This Pierce dealer has it listed under new products on their website:

    http://www.siddonsfire.com/

Also, does anyone know why pierce has built Contender stock units with a chassis styled like the Pierce Velocity/Impel:

Yes Pierce is building a 75 ft Contender aerial, I believe they have already sold a few. The other unit you mentioned is built on a Velocity chassis to allow the use of big block engines.

I'm pretty sure they've adopted the Impel cab to put on Contender units with higher horse motors, hence you'll see them where someone wants the Contender body but more motor than was is allowed in the standard custom Contender cab.

I'm sure someone can elaborate on this more, or at least confirm what I've heard.

Contender with 455 hp Detroit: http://www.piercemfg.com/StockDelive...8-45228cce038c

Notice the Impel Contender has a higher horse Detroit, the other custom Contenders in the older Saber chassis on their stock units page have lower horse motors with what I would assume are less demanding cooling requirements.

The Big Block Contenders are on a Velocity chassis, big block engines are not available in Impel chassis, according to the information on the Pierce website.

So any motor bigger than the 425 hp Cummins that is available on the Saber cab, you have to go to a different custom chassis ? And then go with the program apparatus contender body built at there plant in Florida.

For 2010 the max EV ratings for the ISL are now 450HP/1200TQ. Expect this new HP availablity in all chassis that use the Medium block Engines.
