This is a bit off the grant topic, but it's interesting nonetheless.
Check out this story about a woman who had a serious bike accident alone in the woods. She couldn't make any phone calls, but was able to connect to Twitter to send a message that she needed to be rescued.

Makes me want a Code Red or similar system. text seems to be able to get through and everyone is carrying cell phone communication. I should say cell phones are proceeding to where they will do everything soon.
If you said Twitter a few years ago, everyone would have said, "What?"
