    Default Interview

Oh ok now I trust what you are saying because I had my interview December 24th and they didn't say much as far as what's going on as far as the process goes but it seems like metro is staying on schedule this time

I was in the class between 90-95 I won't tell you who I am until Nashville hires me lol, until then I will remain a mystery lol, I'm just a regular ff-emt/iv ff1 ff2 certified hazmat certified and pumper qualified just like you but what does that mean to Nashville fire, nothing, i hope it counts a little because my test score was a 7 which means I barely made it to the interview phase

As I've stated previously, the 39 was a number they were expecting to hire if they received a grant but they did not receive it. Therefore, that number no longer means anything and they will only be hiring people to replace those firefighters that have retired or will retire before April, when the 1st class is supposed to start. After that, if they end up getting that grant they will hire 39 more firefighters. This is information I was given at the time of my interview.

So again, we have NO IDEA how many they are looking to hire at this point and 39 means absolutely nothing.

Glad you know what my certs are considering I'm a medic, not an IV.

Considering how many applied I would guess there are a good number from all over Tennessee and probably all over. I ran into a guy from southern California when I went to take the written. There were a lot of guys I knew from around Nashville and surrounding areas and probably a lot more I didn't know from local area.

They cut down numbers pretty good so if you are still in it you are do better than some, positive spin on it considering there are still a lot in it and a limited number of positions unless something changes in the near future. I heard they are still waiting to see what the retiring is going to cut them down for class numbers.

When I did the written test, I met a lot of people, (we all had a lot of downtime), including two from California. I thought I had it kinda rough traveling 200 miles to test, I'm pretty sure I met more people non-Nashville area than locals. I'm pretty sure I met someone from the area of Fairbanks, Alaska, no kidding.

I still would rather call Nashville home since my departure in 2004.

Well Nashville is close enough to where I live now, but I would LOVE to work for the department. I have friends there and want to be a member of the "big" city fire department. I wish the process was faster so we could know something but part of the process with a department with so many applicants I guess. Seems like I have been involved in this for years now haha. The way my memory plays games with me and my impatience makes it harder.

Makes it hard too when you have your irons in different fires. I think I've got 4 different job possibilites I'm waiting to hear on...NFD being one

I hear you there. Its hard to not try to get on somewhere else when you are not sure what is going to happen anywhere. Even at smaller departments you are getting large numbers for a few open positions. Still have to try though. I need to stay in the area that I live in so there are only a handful of departments I can even try for and I am not even sure when all of them will even open up again. Going off of rumors for that.

It was hard to get on with Memphis because of guys who didn't make up their mind on whether they was going to retire I mean guys who have been privates for 30 years not caring to move up at all, but some of them died before they retired pretty sad
