    Default Chicago Area ALS Services

I am entering Paramedic school this fall and am looking into options in the Chicago area for after I complete the program. I want to work for CFD as a medic but its seems pretty random when they open the list and what number you are on the list. In the meantime I would like to find another ALS service that does emergency calls. I have heard of BUDs and Paramedic Services of Illinois. I know BUDs does some 911, but does PSI? Any feedback on these two companies? Also, are there other services in the Chicago area that do ALS emergency calls that I am missing? (I am sure there probably is). Thanks for any information you can give me.

What, two separate posts asking this question at the EMSResponder site weren't enough?

Since neither thread has received a response at the present, I don't feel that this was a bad idea at all. What's your problem?

To the OP, you can try www.emtlife.com or www.emtcity.com for further opportunity in getting the answers you seek.

PSI, PSSI, and Metro all are contract companies that do 911 for various suburbs.

Sorry about the double post on ems responder. I didn't realize the posts don't get put up right away. I saw it wasn't on there and thought something went wrong. When I noticed I tried to delete the double but it wouldn't let me. It seems like ems responder doesn't get the traffic this site does, so yeah I posted on both. Anyways thanks for the information.

I have had experiences with PSI and PSSI...check this link for the departments that PSI supplies Paramedics for. With PSSI and PSI they both supply paramedics and in alot of cases paramedic/firefighters for various suburbs. PSI is closer to the city, PSSI has alot of contracts farther west of the city. I currently work for PSSI while testing and it's not a bad gig. I work as a firefighter/paramedic on an ALS rig. It's up to the departments what you will actually do, I know some of the contracts (Rosemont for example, I believe) you can work on the engine as well as the ambo.

For the emergency in the south suburbs ya got Buds which runs ems for alot of departments in Mabas 24 and i believe 1 in MABAS 27.

Trace ambulance runs 911 for Tinley Park and Crestwood

Kurtz ambulance has 2 towns they run 911 for plus as far as i know they are contracted to the county prision for emergency response. But they also have a contracted side similar to PSI where you can be hired on as a Fire/Medic to local south suburban municipalities. *note you have to have your FF2, hazmat, etc.*

If you get your National you can apply at Prompt Ambulance*located across the border in Indiana* They run 911 for 5 towns in NW indiana and run back up for several towns including Garyhttps://www.promptambulance.com/

There are multiple other companies that utilize paramedics for different events and contracts, Precise ambulance is contracted to different special events at different places http://www.preciseambulance.com/
    Along with Superior Ambulance http://www.superiorambulance.com/

Hope that helps sorry this is such a late response, and good luck with medic school, i just started my class also

There is nothing wrong with posting a question on different websites as to get different feed back from different groups of people. I don't understand why there are people on here that feel they need to criticize people for asking a simple question. If you don't have input on the question and feel its a stupid question go on about your business and not post anything. It seem that's all that is happening on here anymore people jumping on other people for asking a question and not helping the person get an answer to their question. That is what this site is for to help each other out.
