Reminder: Georgia-Pacific Bucket Brigade™ Grant Applications Due August 13
There is still time to apply for a grant through the Georgia-Pacific Bucket Brigade program. Eligible departments must be located in a community that has a Georgia-Pacific facility or where Georgia-Pacific employees reside. The grants can be used to purchase needed equipment and gear for your department. The deadline is August 13, so apply today to make sure you don’t miss this opportunity.
The Georgia-Pacific Bucket Brigade is a national program that recognizes firefighters in communities that have Georgia-Pacific facilities for their contributions in making their communities, homes, and workplaces safer. The program supports volunteer and small-town fire departments through monetary grants for equipment, resources, and programming, as well as safety education materials for use in local schools. Grants have been used to fund a variety of necessities, including turn-out gear, extrication equipment, vehicle repairs or purchases, water pumps, hoses and nozzles, programming initiatives, and more.
Since 2006, the Georgia-Pacific Bucket Brigade program has contributed more than $500,000 to rural and small-town fire departments across the U.S. In 2009, Georgia-Pacific awarded a total of $167,000 in grants to 24 departments. In addition, Georgia-Pacific provided all applicants with a complimentary year-long department membership in the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC).

Ain't done yet, still have until Monday at 6pm when SGT picks me up at home to drop me off at the hotel. Stuff like SAFER DJs coming within the next few days and other nuggets are still to come while I'm here. Minus tomorrow night since the send-off party starts at 1600.
