    Default Sprinkler Sysytem cost reduction

We got a fairly substancial cost reduction today on our proposed Sprinkler System for two fire stations. Looking for any guidance on how to negotiate a different cost.

Negotiate with who, AFG or the vendor?

Was not sure if it would be possible to discuss the award amount with FEMA, Our estimate is way over what they are offering.

So it sounds like they gave you a reduction. There are a lot of variables here that would need to be clear to tell you if you have a chance at asking to have funding restored. Give me a call at 863-551-9598 and I will be glad to discuss that with you and what you should do.

only way you're going to do it is with multiple estimates as well as copies of prior jobs completed by the same contractors. also need to show the fair wage pricing on the job which is the per hour rates we're forced to use on government jobs, just like everyone had to do on station grants. sorry for the slow response, at the in-laws in puerto rico for the holiday, not the best connection across the phone broadband.

Looks like $275k is the limit on Type I wildland, plus sales tax for those that need to pay that in their state. 4x4 commercial 4dr chassis, 1000gpm PTO 750gal tank for those thinking along those lines for their own needs in 2011.

    Wink Power Cots & Stairchairs

Just in this week - we received 10,000.00 for each Power Cot and 3,000.00 for each stairchair we requested.

As always this office thanks Brian, Kurt, and all you other faceless (I've seen those two in person) mentors who guide us in our never ending quest to secure funding for the fire service in America.

By the way Brian, while you were training to defend our Nation I helped with a SAFER ap for a little town down your way that just got their 1199A today. (New Caney TX.)

Nice Jeff, they're about an hour from me, NE side up off 59. Nice area, we did a charity ride (Red Knights) and ran about 100 miles through that neck of the woods. Fast growing area too, not surprised they hit for it.

Received our award today for vehicle rescue equipment. For the most part, we're in line w what is already documented as approved costs. Our cutters and power units were reduced to the numbers already provided.

Our spreaders were approved at $7450.
    Stabilization struts approved at $3100
Air Bag system approved at $5850

    Hope that helps.

We had SCBA facepieces as part of our proposal. We put them in at $525, they were reduced (in the same email that contained the 10 questions) to $500.

So the limit on a pumper is $285,000? Is that the federal share or the amount that was sought?

The communication prices you have listed. Are these p-25 digital equipment prices. If so I need some phone numbers and vendor names.

Don't no for sure if the prices are or are not P25 pricing; as the folks that supplied the amounts did not indicate one way or the other. Based on what little I know I do not believe these are P25 pricings; seem to be too low for that type of equipment.

You are correct. The Pagers were in line but handheld or a bout a thousand short, and the others were way off from quotes I have gotten. Kurt or Brian can answer my question. Thanks

Although the mobiles and portables are a bit short for P25, you can buy a number of models of P25 portables and mobiles for anywhere between 1100 and 1600 - even adding in trunking.

Or you can pay more and send the salespersons kids to private school.
