We did have a problem with one of the thinkpads, but our IT guy figured it out in a few days. He almost flipped his lid when we gave them to him to set up for us and he found out that the OS had been wiped... He kept yelling federal offense and mumbling to himself. The ThinkPads had desktop docking terminals with them so they will doing double duty in the trucks as well as the stations. We added some memory so that we could run CAMEO and a few more programs on them and still have a little speed.

I found a drivers disk for $5.00, figured I could afford that and got it ordered.

He can tell you all about it. They take laptops that the pipelines no longer need (and some
desktops) and distribute them to responders.

Laptops for volunteers program ran through the pipeline association. The email listed above is the contact and they were pretty efficient and the stuff we got, although not new by any means is working great and it was free. May take a little time for them to get some laptops in but its worth the wait.

I did receive one if someone wants it by paying for the shipping. Like they said, they are used and have no operating system. We needed one and when we saw this, decided to buy a new laptop as we do not have the know-how to install an operating system.

Thanks for the large response but I believe I have a call tag coming for it. Glad to see someone can use it. Better than laying on the floor here. But call the number and get added to the list. I believe it took me 6 months to a year, then I got an email saying one was being shipped. In the meantime we were raising money and just decided to purchase one by the time this arrived.

If anyone ended up with the IBM Thinkpad T43 version, I have a recovery CD for it, decides what drivers you need and then installs them. Works really well. Let me know if you need a copy. This is not copyrighted software.

I have a T-41, but i think it might work. I am missing drivers to use the wireless and cannot find them online. Can the file be e-mailed?

My error, I have the T42 recovery. I can burn a copy and mail it, but no, it is way too large to email. I don't think it would work on the T41, but I am NOT an IT guy.

Your best bet would be to do what I did, Ebay.
