Does anybody know if their are any haz mat teams at any of the federal fire departments that require a state cert? I have heard that pendelton and miramar require haz mat specialist certification from the state and not the dod cert.

I believe it is up to the Fire Chief at each agency that can require additional Certs for his Firefighters other then DOD IFSAC Certs. A lot of Fire Chiefs require State or National EMT and have fired old timers who did not want to get their EMT. Remember, the DOD IFSAC Certs. are a minimum and a Fire Chief can require more to meet the needs of his Dept. to include running Mutual Aid.
