When I was 16,I fussed about gasoline costing 85 cents a gallon which cut big time into my grass cutting money. Then you come along and we're shelling out $2.46 a gallon.

I remember gas was getting expensive at $.79 a gallon, but you could still take $20 of grass cutting money, buy gas for the pickup, eat supper, see a movie, and still have money left over for shooting pool at the local game room...

Man... when I was 16 we had Regular and Ethyl. Ethyl was 35 cents a gallon on the Full Service island where I worked. Regular was 21 cents for self service.

It was a running joke when someone pulled into the Full Service and told us they wanted Ethyl.

Of course, a Big Mac cost about 50 cents at that time.

A quart of oil was 27 cents.

A 16 oz Coke was 25 cents in a glass bottle.

It cost 8 cents to mail a letter.

I paid $4 for the Beatles Let it Be Album.

A Muntz 4-Track Player for your car cost about $35.

I paid $250 for my first vehicle, a 1966 Jeepster Commando.

We still used a slide rule for math in school.

A dollar in back then is worth about $5.20 now.

In 1968 I was living at home and commuting to college and gas was .28 cents a gallon. At the local diner burgers were .35, fries .15 and cokes .10. .60 cents for lunch.
In 1966 bought a 1956 chevy from my mother for $75. Wish I still had that car. In 1967 bought an imaculate 1962 chevy for $550. Gave that car to my mother and bought a 1964 Volkswagen for $200. I let a buddy borrow it to visit his girl friend before he shipped off to Vietnam. He wrecked it in a bad rain storm. I sold the motor for $100 to my neighbor for his dune buggy. Man I'm old, but seems like yesterday.

Holy crap, that means you're close to my age! I remember it being 87 cents a gallon and bitching because it went up to a whpping 91 cents a gallon at one time. Back then I never thought I'd see the day gas would be almost $3 a gallon, much less the rip off $4 a gallon after Katrina. How old are you Doug, I'm 32.

    Smile And..............

When I got home at 21:00 after a call, I was too damn Cold to post it, But we had a Tech Rescue Job that took about 1.5 hours. Teen fell down into a 40 ft deep Ravine that was very difficult to access.Ended up using some "Rope Tricks" to get her out of there and to a Helicopter to be flown to a Trauma Center.....

It was too cold, too snowy, too bad out side to be out last night, or yesterday unless you had to.

BTW The mayor of philly is now running the NFL. Snow has never stopped the boys from the NFL from playing football. Unless the roof fell in!

Look at Green Bay. Open stadium and they play their home games, snow or not!

Just cleared almost 3ft of snow from my driveway and sidewalk. End of driveway was over 4ft from plow clearing street. I am sooo glad I bought a snow blower years back.

Would have been to a Marines get-together to bring in the new year, but the dumbass weather people predicted snow, sleet, and freezing rain. So I had to cancel and go to work. Got home a couple hours ago, and that is where we are staying.

Happy New Year, to one and all.
