Default Amazing Audio of Finance meeting in Oak Brook, IL "Fire a fireman a month"

"Fire the firemen and their wives will leave them and their dogs will die. Fire one a month at noon on the first", said at a finance meeting on September 22, 2010

The audio was up on the Oak Brook website but has been taken down, now it can be found at: http://statter911.com/

The first voice you hear is village president John Craig.

It's nice to know that we are considered to be nothing more than "street people" to these MUTTS...

If I were a resident of Oak Brook Village, I would demand the mass resignation of the committee.

First of all, thanks BENV17, for sharing this …it is a very dark look into some of what is actually being discussed, and also how firefighters and emergency personnel are perceived by some people.
I have been saying for a long time that sooner or later public sector employees are going to be made the villains in budget battles across Illinois and the nation. In the wake of dire economic conditions Nationwide everything is going under the microscope and many people see this time as a golden opportunity to obtain cuts and concessions from the public sector employees…police and fire included.

While better phraseology will no doubt be employed to negotiate the desired cuts, I believe the negative sentiment will still exist, and actually motivate the decision makers whoever they may be. The truth of the matter is our State and Country are in very very very bad shape economically. Now, we can debate until the end of the earth on the why’s and how’s of that reality, but a reality it most definitely is. The gig is up, and the people elected to negotiate for us have made alliances with the very people that have run our Nation's economy into the gutter. The solutions are all painful; there simply are not any easy-outs. As a Nation we simply cannot spend our way out of this mess. Either we admit it and address the issues head on, or the issues will address us and there will not be a darned thing we can do about it. The question now is do we want a piece of something, or a whole lot of nothing?

Here's a start. Lets work to remove all the fraud, corruption and waste that eats away at tax dollars a hell of a lot more then firefighter salaries do.

Hey, I’m with you 100%, but the problem few people want to talk about…the 800 pound F'ing gorilla in the room as they say…is that the same folks our “leadership” keep saddling up with are largely the same people that are responsible for the fraud, corruption and waste. Our Nation is drowning in debt, and getting a little extra gravy today is not going to make the crap we have to eat 10 or 15 years down the road taste any better. We have got to stop thinking only as far as the front of our faces and start thinking long term, or there is not going to be anything left to fix.

These are all good points, but as far as the "Street People" label goes, I will wear that as a f&*$ing badge of honor even if they did mean it as an insult. OF COURSE we're street people. Because we are out on the streets everyday and we know what the world is really like. Right now, government is being ran by people that haven't had to work for anything in their lives. The only information they have is a piece of paper with numbers on it. They just don't have a clue what really goes on. I'm a firefighter. I don't know what the answer is by any means, but at least I know whats really happening!

LOL checking my usual sites looking for places to apply to I came across the fact they are testing again. After hearing the audio, makes me wonder why I'd even want to apply.
