    Question 1" 3/4 hose problem

I have an old 50' section of 1" 3/4 hose and it is very stiff. Can anyone tell me a way to soften the hose? Anything helps.

Throw it away. Not much chance in getting it flexible and soft again.

Well, I use it at home to practice hose loads and training and I don't wanna throw it away.

Try washing it thoroughly with a mild detergent. Rinsing it to get all the detergent and dirt off and letting it dry. Sometimes just being overly dirty can make hose stiffer. Otherwise as others have said it may just be old and junk.

In his defense, I also practice hose loads at home with my stiff hose. But I do believe we're talking about two different things. Remember, practice makes perfect.

At my age I'm more worried about taking a soft hose and stiffening it up a bit, but that's probably just me.

One must be careful when washing hose, the more you wash it the stiffer it can become..... Try saddle soap it softens leather work boots

if it's not good use it as a washdown length around the firehouse to clean the apparatus floor, dirty hose after a fire, stuff like that.

I say clean it with soap and a stiff brush. also the more you use it the more pliable it will become.
