    Default info on fire academys??

Anyone that has gon to one, can u tell me ur experience being there for a couple of months??.. Also, ive done some research and read that i can go to a local fire department and get trained there as a volunteer. If i take that route, would the local FD take care of any certificates i need, what would be the cost of training there?? Ive just recently decided to choose this as my way of living, so i really dont no much of the process of gettin started. So any help would be appreciated.

Ok what state are you in?

Check different city job openings and see what they require

If there is a state fire marshal office call them and ask what is required to get hired

    You need totals some incentive

    Arteg,

Good luck with your search. The fire service needs more young guys with enthusiasm!

I would recommend picking out 10 cities where you think you might be happy living and look over the hiring requirements. Some cities require paramedics while others don't (although I think it's a good thing to get).

If you're interested in coming out east (Massachusetts) the best thng you can do is go into the military and get your veterans preference. It doesn't matter which branch of the service you're in or whether or not you go overseas. In the hiring proces in Massachusetts Civil Service law gives Veterans preference over non-Veteran's with a few exceptions. Most of the people on my Department were in the military, especially guys that came on in the last 15 years.
