Fire Service Exploring is a worksite-based program for young men and women who have completed the eighth grade and are 14 years of age, or 15 years of age but have not yet reached their 21st birthday.
Thanks for the link... Not knowing any better, I guess I had always assumed that a fire company's or station's "explorer" program was just something they put together themselves. But they're actually all part of this larger program, or based on it or affiliated with it, I take it?
It's usually an extension of the Boy Scouts of America.
Not all departments Explorer of Junior programs are affiliated with BSA. Some are organized by the individual department.
Our program is not through BSA, just through the department. At 16 you can join as a cadet.
