Fire Protection Retraining

My retraining window is coming up in July of next year. I really want Fire Protection, currently I am a 3E951 (Emergency Management), and hold certs in Hazmat Awareness thru Tech. We have a good amount of contact with the Fire Department and many FFs I talk to seem to really enjoy their job and speak highly of the training they get. It's not that I hate my career field, its just not what I want to do, and the training we do is fairly lame. So with all this said what are my chances of being able to cross train into Fire? Also, does anyone know what the vision standards are? I remember in MEPS i was denied Fire because of my eyesight, (I think) but from what I've found online I do meet the standards, so if anyone has a sure answer it would be greatly appreciated!

Yes I have, they told me that the AF wasn't doing lasik so unless something changed . . . My eyesight isn't really bad, 20/15 in my right eye, 20/30 corrected, 20/80 uncorrected in my left. I'm not 100% sure eyesight was the reason I couldn't get into Fire, I remember it was one my job list, but they told me no. I probably should have pushed the issue but I really didn't understand how things worked back then
