Yep! I wonder why it will take soooo long? I wonder at times as to whether or not they have their selection already and are already performing background investigations on select individuals...
Yeah, although HR says it will be a few months, I am pretty sure that they are starting at the top of the list and going through background packets right now. You might not hear anything for a few months but that doesn't mean that the wheels aren't in motion. Go run some stairs and do some burpees to keep your minds off of the waiting guys. ;)
...okay. That's a great suggestion. Im on it!:D
Tick tock tick tock...... :))
yeah man...you're right about that! Im thinking we will hear something close to November...
I think you will hear something before that. I am guessing that the start date for the first class will be February 22nd. The last two classes have started on that date and unfortunately your hiring process will come to a screeching halt from Thanksgiving to New Years if history is any indication. I hope that I am wrong and they call you guys up tomorrow, have your background done next Monday, schedule your psych for Tuesday, voice stress and medical on Wednesday, sign your contract on Thursday, and go pick up your uniforms on Friday. You would have the weekend to celebrate and would report to your recruit class on Monday the 12th of September.
Unfortunately we all know how slow the wheels of city/county government turns so yeah,...........February 22, 2012. :-)
Out of curiosity, out of the guys who scored in the top 50 or so on the BAP, how did you guys answer the questions? The one about the firefighter telling the younger wife the guy's condition was due to viagra and then accusing the firefighter of flirting with his wife through me for a bit of a loop...
Short version: I asked him to stop his behavior, apologize and continue patient care.
Thanks, I appreciate it.
Has anyone heard anything from MBFD as of yet??
I have not heard anything.......
Check out this article all you guys who put in for MBFR. It makes references to the Beach, among other Depts. I think Miami Beach Government might be standing by to see what the numbers are and if it will be beneficial to hire right now. Personally, I think it would be cheaper to hire new police and fire but, as you read through the article, you'll see other elements in play.

That series of articles is ridiculous and will hurt the South Florida fire service for a very long time. Add that to our anti-firefighter governor and just the pure ignorance of South Florida residents to what we do everyday and I forsee very rough seas ahead for future and current SoFla firefighters. Will this storm pass? Sure it will, but not after it has left irrepairable damages to all departments.
With that said, beachfire can probably confirm this better than I can, but talk around town is that MBFD is currently in negotiations regarding pensions for new hires, which apparently will delay hiring until they can come to an agreement.
Deluge is 100% correct. Hopefully it won't take too long. Hang in there guys.
...contacted HR today, no one has been called and no backgrounds have started...
If I was a betting man I would say that the new hires for this next process with beach will be on the FRS system and no longer a pension..Let's see what happens though we will most likely know by beginning of October..
