I think they meant to hire in 2015 and they just announced it too early lol.... -__-
Reliable sources say 15-17 to be hired for first class (never know class size till start date.) Word is process to start Sept-Oct with first class starting early 2015. BAP unlikely. Likely to have written tests and interviews. Rumors of a contracted testing company doing the process with MBFD. Many retirements coming up.
Miami beach just posted position for Dispatcher trainee job. May want to consider that job while waiting for a fire gig and it will count towards seniority.
Oh wow I guess I wasn't far off guessing it was for 2015 haha... That Dispatcher job looks like it is for Police? Any idea if dispatchers do both fire and Police or just stick to one side?
So now that we know it is a written test, anyone have an idea on how the written was before? Fire/EMS textbook stuff?
I don't know if it will have EMS on it because the only requirements to apply were to be fire certified and the PAT on the specific days they outlined. I'm taking a wild guess but I'm thinking it will a civil service test like the county does. That is just a guess though.
I agree... Unlikely EMS stuff since not required to have EMT. If anything, review IFSTA since fire cert is required.
Fire minimum standards or civil service, sounds good.
Hopefully they will let us know at orientation.
I got the email also and it just say mandatory orientation and nothing about a test. Excited to get this ball rolling
It is more than likely just an Orientation
As anyone received conformation that you successfully registered for the orientation?? I set the appointment, it says I go that day but never got confirmation by email.
Hey gents.... Considering moving down to Florida to be with my family and looking to become a firefighter. I'm currently a professional firefighter at a five town regional department in new Jersey right by new York and want to know what you gents think would be the best course of action to take and what departments are the best ones to consider. I got two years on the job and am a marine veteran. Thanks!
Soo anyone know if there is a dress code for the orientation??
I always assume business causal unless told otherwise or its an interview but I might just wear a suit and tie to be safe cause as the saying goes "its better to be safe than sorry"
So what did everyone think about orientation?? Or test?
umm... pretty much need to score a 100 or high 90's to move on.
i felt video part or orientation could have been done at home, there is one thing, even though the practice test questions seemed dumb... you can't over look anything, I am sure many people will not do well enough.
I also feel like your going to have to score mid 90's or better to move on. Even though its not the same test my buddy scored a 96 on the last BAP the beach gave and if I remember correctly he was 36 on the list.
