Really think we need to score mid 90's or 100. 2 interviews is the weird part because they need class to start jan in that just makes the process longer don't u think?

Exactly my thoughts... either way better score as high as possible. I went through the study guide already, if you go through it quickly you will catch yourself making mistakes. Im guessing some people are not going to bother with it so when it comes to test time, might make some dumb mistakes.

A lot of departments do two interviews actually, usually making it to the second interview means you are in a great position. He also mention he "hoped" to start a class by Jan...if it were urgent to get people hired, they would do it as quickly as they want.

Even though it is the wish of the department to get things done quickly, many steps need to take place and involve factors out of their control. I feel that Jan or even Feb IS quick for everything that is needed. If there is to be a panel interview, the department members on that panel need to be scheduled to attend. Time has to be given for everyone to get all their background info in. All backgrounds need to be checked and some of that info is coming from current or previous employers that may not respond right away. Some steps such as psyc, final medical... require an appointment with a contracted company and those results take a bit to get back. HR needs to approve all potential employees and who knows how many days that paperwork sits at HR. Then most places try to give at least 2 weeks notice of starting. MB fire dept staff needs to prepare and set up academy and arrange schedules of those members teaching at it. A great deal of the beach's academy training occurs at Miami Dade's facility. They have to have the facility available for them to use too. So lots of steps and time in each one. Plus the holidays fall in that period and I can imagine the department is not spending 100% of its time on getting this process done. Just my thoughts

The cognitive questions aren't what worries me, it's the personality/behavioral questions. Although there is no right or wrong answers, how you answer will significantly change your score. I've heard of this NFSI test, the candidness scale is serious.
