Yes that is true. Im clean now but i wasn't a month ago

yeah but alot of departments want you to be clean alot longer than that and they usually give a drug and polygraph test. you might want to put some distance between applying and your drug use for instance like a year or two just saying.

And then there's the story of the applicant who shaved and plucked every last body hair because he was told they tested hair samples for drugs.
He sure looked like a freak standing there in line with all the other candidates as they handed him a jar to P in. :-}

Exactly. You are a representative of the community, yourself, and your fire department/medical facility. NOBODY wants some drunk or drug addict putting out the fire to their property or assisting them with meds/etc.. ALWAYS pose a good look upon yourself, people look up to you constantly.
