As a follow-up to the note about the PA Grant - There are many PA departments that have not yet completed the final closeout form for their 2009-2010 awards. These forms are due by December 1st. If they are not received by Dec. 1st, the department will not receive their 2010-2011 award.

Received an email several weeks ago that the FD's grant was approved and an email last week that our EMS department's grant was approved. No $ amount set yet. E-mail stated that they had to decide how departments were approved and then they would set the award amounts.
Haven't checked the email today yet to see if there is any news on $ amounts.

False
Hate to burst anyones bubble, but this is completely FALSE! The PA grants will not be completely read until around December 22nd, and will not be released until after January 1st. They have not yet even begun to get through reading all of the grants.
Please, do not wait for this email to arrive, nor call the fire commissioners office as it will only slow down the process.
I post this as a public service announcement to save you from high blood pressures when you DONT receive an email, and to save our good friends at the State Fire Commissioners Office valuable time.

The point about closeouts is still accurate.
No 2009-2010 closeout by Dec 1st = no 2010-2011 award.

Attack6 is correct.
These are not done in batches like AFG - they are done one by one. I have several which have been approved for weeks and several still waiting.

Funny that this was brought up though. I did receive an email today stating that my 2009-2010 grant has been closed out.

The grant totals will be released tomorrow. You will be able to access your grants and see how much you received.

What is sad are the departments that do not apply at all or failed to complete their previous year closeouts and receive nothing. This is one of the easiest grants to apply for and close out.

It is really sad. I opened it up and looked down through and couldn't beleive the amount of department that we not getting any money because they did not file reports. THat report compared to the federal is a breeze. I guess I can see where the governing bodies have to crack down or it will get out of hand.
I just glad we are all square and money is heading our way...
