    Default Springfiel FD is HIRING!

    Crazy as it sounds...I was watching WICS Ch 20 this morning and they had a segment the SFD is starting an academy class of 10 on Monday. Just a few short months after they laid off 17 FFs for a month!

    I think they got a SAFER grant from what HR said thats where they are getting the money to rehire and put on new recruits.

    Springfield put in for a SAFER Grant, but haven't been awarded it at this point. They've hired 10 because they're down so many guys at this point due to normal attrition that it's become cheaper to hire guys than keep paying the OT.
