Hard to get an average from just one round, we need a few more rounds to see a true picture starting to emerge.

The average award for 2009 Round 1 was $76,642. So there has been a reduction of $6,387 in the round 1 average. As Kurt pointed out it's too early to make a definitive conclusion on the overall average. In the end, 2009 had an average award of over $82,000. Historically, as the rounds are announced the average award has risen.

I interpreted Mr. Moser's inquiry to ask if 82 awards was a normal size for Round 1.

Historically, Round 1 has been one of the largest rounds since they've had time to pile a bunch up during the technical review process.

    ROUND 1 AWARD HISTORY:

    2010 - 82
    2009 - 926
    2008 - 126
    2007 - 459
    2006 - 860
    2005 - 2,038
    2004 - 76
    2003 - 219
