Default Decorations in the fire house

I am interested to know what if any fire houses allow christmas decorations in the fire house? We have a few that have done this to our station and I am unsure if this is the place to do so. More specifically they have put up a 3 ft. santa holding a list of "naughty and nice" firefighters. In my opinion this is going to put the morale in the station even more in the toilet than it already is. But thats a whole seperate issue.

We put up lights on the exterior and a holiday tree inside. Our firehouse is not a public building.

I would probably be on the naughty, but nice list.

Same here, lights outside and a tree inside. Our firehouse is owned by the membership with space rented by the town.

We decorate the outside with lights and wreaths, and a few things on the inside with no issue. I've only seen it build morale as they do it as a group (even those who do not celebrate Christmas), and I don't see how it would hurt. I too would prolly be on the naughty list lol, just sayin...

Why??? Maybe counseling is in order if people so depressed that Christmas increases depression.
Even the burger-flippers at McDonald's probably have some McWackers.

WTH is a holiday tree??? I know, I know, it's the PC version of a Christmas Tree, you know, the original version of this holiday. Amazing how everyone wants to take the name away from this one holiday. Next thing you know it won't be Easter, it'll be holiday number 2. The fire inspector here on base kept saying holiday tree in her presentation and all of the Marines kept correcting her and telling her it was called a Chrsitmas Tree.

I could not agree more. A Christmas Tree is not a "holiday tree" any more than a Menorah is a "holiday candelabrum".

    This issue chaps my arse!

It is a CHRISTMAS tree!! This whole idea of being PC to not offend anyone that isn't with the same religious belief is a bunch of crap. No one is trying to change the name of any other holiday but this one.

I do however agree that the naughty/nice list might be a bit much but Christmas decorations around the station is just fine.

We put up a fake tree in the meeting room and a few decorations around the inside, no lights or anything outside except our "Keep the Wreath Green" campaign.

Yeah, I try to be light hearted about it, by making sarcastic remarks about folks changing it. Like I mentioned above, before we know it, folks will be trying to change Easter into holiday number 2.

We have a 'work day' the first weekend of Dec. and put up lights and a CHRISTMAS TREE.

Funny how some folks won't say Christams but they'll say holiday, which comes from the word holyday. If they can't call it by it's proper name then they shouldn't be celebrating it. That means no time off work either!!

We also dip into the volunteer fund and buy presents for all of the children of our members. 'Santa' (aka Blulakr) hands out the presents. We're gonna have to use someone else for Santa this year because the kids are getting wise to me.

Here I, errr Santa is in action

P.S. I'm Santa so I make the list!!

We share the same feelings, Chief. Every time I hear about a "Holiday" tree, it makes my blood boil. If your religion or belief doesn't include "Christmas", then shut the hell up, don't look, and keep walking.

We decorate the station inside and out. We also sell Christmas Trees as one of our fundraising events. Many stations around here also decorate the apparatus and escort Santa around to the neighborhoods for the kids.

I don't see a problem with decorations in the station, it would seem to me to improve morale. Even the nice and naughty list can be OK depending on how it is done.

A department I used to frequent (when I lived in Putnam Co, NY) goes all out with lights etc...and also sells trees and wreaths as a fundraiser.....I had many a cold evening huddled around the burn barrel eating venison kabobs.....and of course that is where I got my wreath every year.....aaahhhhh.....the memories!

We hang lights and wreaths outside. Inside meeting/rental room has a tree and lights on the ceiling. Wreaths are on the front of each truck as well.

On Christmas Eve, we go around to members houses and elderly resident's houses delivering food and presents. During that, the 2 engines are decorated with strings of Christmas lights as well.

    Talking Christmas Holiday

No problem here. The city puts up about 40,000 lights on the down town square and has a huge CHRISTMAS parade in a few weeks with Santa at the end.

I am not totally in favor of having decorations in the fire house. My thoughts on santa holding a naughty/nice list is more so where I am stuck. The reason for this is that the firefighters on that list are some of our newer members that have taken and not passed certification tests. They are already in the dumps about failing the tests and this is not helping. I am still at a lose of words for this. It really ticks me off that one of our members would do that to them. I find this totally wrong in many ways.

If their feelings are that hurt by a simple decoration (and probable joke/ball busting) they have bigger issues to worry about.

I don't celebrate Christmas, BUT it doesn't bother me when I see Christmas lights/decorations, or when someone says to me "Merry Christmas". I simply thank them and say it to them in return. I see it as people trying to be nice and enjoying the holiday season.

so to all of you my brothers and sisters. From this probie to you smoke eaters: Merry Christmas

Thanks for not busting my chops. I was slightly harsh.

I don't mind those that don't celebrate Christmas. Not everybody does, and I am OK with that. I've wished people a Merry Christmas, to receive a Happy Hanukkah or Happy Eid. When I do, I'll apologize and then return the same to them. If they say Happy Holidays, I leave it at that.

Yeah I could bust your chops, but there is no need to.

There are Christmas decorations all over my community. Good on em for celebrating the holiday. It is a nice change from "welcome" all over the banners by the light pulls ALL OVER TOWN! Plus every time I go into wally worlds, I get to hear the crazy woman singing Christmas songs and rigging the bell for the Salvation Army.

    Ahhhh...a breath of fresh air.
If you don't want to celebrate my holiday ( Christmas ) that's fine. But don't expect me to whitewash it for you....or anyone.

I generally don't concern myself with other celebrations, but I don't bash them.
