I am looking to present an alternative idea to the Operations and Deputy Chiefs regarding headsets my department uses for our drivers. We use Motorola XTS 5000R portable radios and currently have the lapel mics. Unfortunately, these are not fireground friendly for drivers needing a hands free option with adequate audible capability. Anyone have any suggestions or comments?![]()

We use Sigtronics headset systems for our trucks. Driver has a headset that connects to his portable. Leaves him free to roam around the truck but stay in contact.
