"The Calling" Firefighter Poem
Hey guys, here's something I've been working on for a little while. It's still fairly rough, just wanted to get some feedback... or should I say 'constructive criticism'. Hope you all enjoy
Envied by children,
Respected by most.
They are like no other,
Created unique by the Holy Ghost.
They give their all,
Much blood, sweat, and tears.
With an overwhelming passion,
Heart and soul take place of all fears.
Their life is a risky gamble,
Playing all cards dealt.
The reward cannot be measured,
But only be felt.
They lay their lives on the line,
To those whom they’re a stranger.
As they fulfill their life’s purpose,
Amidst many stages of danger.
Their purpose becomes their life,
With a family and brotherhood that can’t be any tighter.
They answer their imminent calling,
The calling of a firefighter

“Guys if you get hurt, we’ll help you. If you get sick we’ll treat you. If you want to bitch and moan, then all I can tell you is to flick the sand out of your slit, suck it up or get the hell out!”
- Capt. Marc Cox CFD
Nothing in life is so exhilarating as to be shot at without result.
