27 years ago, 5 members of the Buffalo Fire Department lost their lives in a propane explosion at N. Division and Grovesnor. Ladder 5 was dispatched to investigate a leaking propane tank in a building and shortly after their arrival, the building exploded killing the entire crew of Ladder 5. Rest in Peace brothers.

27 years ago... Buffalo
"The education of a firefighter and the continued education of a firefighter is what makes "real" firefighters. Continuous skill development is the core of progressive firefighting. We learn by doing and doing it again and again, both on the training ground and the fireground."

I think I've posted this on here before in reference to this incident but anyways:
At the time my Dad was a volunteer in a Buffalo suburb and he and my Mom were at my Grandparents house in the North end of Buffalo (a good 4-5 miles away probably) and they heard the blast.
Now we have moved away but still go in around Christmas to visit family and every year on December 27th at around 2025 I make sure to have a scanner on to hear the memorial message that the alarm office makes. Its pretty chilling.Just because it's called a throw bag, doesn't mean you throw the whole bag... you're supposed to hold onto the rope.
