I'll be spending a week there in late June, and will have at least a couple of mornings free to do whatever.....
Anyone know of some places to visit/things to do around an hours' drive from there?

I am from the other half of the state, but the obvious answer is probably to go to Boston. Google maps puts it 49 minutes from you, but I would recommend driving and parking at the closest subway (T) stop to you and take the train into the city. Lots of historical stuff if you like that sort of thing, as well as many good Irish pubs, Sam Adams brewery and Quincy Market.

Thanks KB - I was thinking about that, but I do have to keep in mind my timetable.....
CoT- I will be (now don't laugh!) working at the National Hosta Convention for my Mom- she will be a vendor and attending......vending is in the afternoons for hte most part, so once we are set up (Tuesday sometime) I'll have free time if I don't want to go on any garden tours.....
I may head down to Middleboro (was thinking about that when I typed the title!)...and visit some friends, go to Ikea (love the place)!....not sure what else.....maybe see if anything is going on at NFPA...hmm.....
Wasn't sure how close/far anyone from the BB is from there - or if there might be any FDs I could stop by for a short visit.....

You could go to Middleboro and see where they use to make Maxim Fire Trucks. They are back in limited business I have heard. They are now being made by Greenwood apparatus in North Attleboro, MA http://www.greenwoodev.com/
If you do go to Boston, park and take the train. Don't try to drive in the city if you don't have too or never have tried it. A walking tour isn't that bad as you can see a lot that way.
We did once and that was the last time we would do that.Last edited by Jonnee; 01-05-2011 at 07:55 PM.

Why wait? Because hopefully there will be NO SNOW! lol.....it's only a 3 hour drive from home - 2 from work, so its' practically next door!
