Is it just me, or does it make no sence that if you hand deliver your packet it has to be there on the 8th. But if you mail it, you can post mark it by the 12th. Just seems backwards. M2C

I agree. Their wording is confusing. In one sentence it says if you mail it, it must be postmarked by April 12th. In the next one it says it needs to be in their office on the 12th.
Seems like you can only do one or the other.

Default Fax # for El Centro

Does anyone have a working fax # or email for Ron Johnson at El Centro? I am trying to fax him the release forms for the accuplacer test scores and it isn't going through after multiple attempts. I have 972-391-1430. Thanks for any help.

Hah. I sent mine off yesterday afternoon.
    I thought I was lagging....
Now it's just the waiting game.

    Good luck, guys.

Ron Johnson sets it all up at El Centro or at the place you want to take it if you are 100 miles outside Dallas.

    Thumbs up Thanks!

I just wanted to say thanks!

I somehow missed the part about including 4 copies of the transcripts when I sent out the packet yesterday. I just happened to visit the forum today after not visiting for a few months and saw that we needed the extras. I was able to take a looooong lunch to drive 30 miles to my college, request the official transcripts, and get them in the mail in time. I just hope whoever gets the mail reads the little note I wrote asking to have those included with the rest of my packet!

Thanks again and I'll have to come around here a little more often to return the favor. Good luck!

    Default Accuplacer

Hey guys-I took it this morning and scored a 116 (highest is 120) on the reading and low on the math (30). That said I was always in the smart classes for english etc in college and high school and the short bus classes for math so I am not stunned by the score. Does anyone know what Dallas Fire considers passing this test to move forward?

The test is adaptive so I thought it stayed pretty hard throughout the whole thing, the math was about the same as the civil service test but I thought the English section was definitely harder. Scored 115 english/120 math.

Thus far, setting up an out of state Accuplacer through Ron Johnson has been a nightmare.

According to the release forms passing on Math is 68 or higher, 78 or higher reading

So If I scored high on reading and $hitty on Math will that eliminate me from the hiring process?

Check with El Centro and ask if there may be any opportunity for you to retake it. Thats what I would do.

I know the accuplacer is part of the recruit process in order to be admitted to El Centro for Paramedic training. So its not so much about Dallas accepting your scores, rather El Centro accepting your scores -- and I assume as long as you have testing scores -- they'll accept you.

    I'm only speculating though.

That would be good news. I mean I have my college degree and my EMT so it isn't like I am a complete moron although my wife might disagree. I sent Ron an email this morning after the exam. I am hoping they will take the reading/comp score into consideration but who knows.

I was under the impression that they are using these scores to set up the ranking? Hope you get to retake bud, that sucks. I may get a study book after all.
