I came across a post the other night of someone asking "If you were doing it all over again, what would you change on the apparatus you spec'ed and bought?" Being late and tired, I have either dreamed that the post exists or just keep over looking it. I have used the search feature for the forum and I am still unable to find it. There was some great ideas there. If anyone knows where this post is PLEASE send me a link to it.
I don't believe it was the "What three things..." or the "What is the most over looked..." posts.

All LED lighting. From the emergency strobes to interior lighing to scene lights.
Pierce also has some HD headlights, pretty cool.

I think I would've tried hard not to have the one engine be all things. In general, the engines are getting so damn long...
It depends on the apparatus, but there are some things I definitly would have changed.I am now a past chief and the views, opinions, and comments are mine and mine alone. I do not speak for any department or in any official capacity. Although, they would be smart to listen to me.

I can't believe they actually pay me to do this!!!
One friend noted yesterday that a fire officer only carries a flashlight, sometimes prompting grumbling from firefighters who have to lug tools and hoses.
"The old saying is you never know how heavy that flashlight can become," the friend said.
