Got this forwarded to me this morning in case anyone sees anything on eBay or anywhere else:
posted by FCAMSECTREAS
A fire helmet belonging to the family of Firefighter Michael Urban was stolen out of his nephews car last night. Firefighter Urban was the Active Duty Firefighter who passed away last week. The helmet was leather black in color with a black and white front shield that had a #2 on it.
It anyone should come across this or be approached about buying it we would like to have it returned no questions asked. As you can imagine it is very sentimental to the family.
If anyone has any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at 508-532-5930 or 508-294-1910.
Thanks
Chief Gary T. Daugherty, Sr. MPA, EFO

No questions might be asked but I'm thinking something else might be in order for whoever did it...

Keep an eye on e-bay....
I am now a past chief and the views, opinions, and comments are mine and mine alone. I do not speak for any department or in any official capacity. Although, they would be smart to listen to me.

What a frigging scumbag bistard that would do that!

Needs to be whipped with a 4 foot section of 1-1/2" hose!

Getting soft in your old age Capt, I was thinking 5inch strapped to a John Deere PTO. Much easier on the back.

There is also a $1,000 reward offered for the return now.
It is all over the news. The nephew who was in possession of the helmet broke down on the side of the road. He walked to get help. When he returned the windows in the car were smashed and the helmet among other things were taken.

CONFIRMED -
(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - Middleboro's fire department confirms that the helmet of a fallen firefighter has been returned to the firefighter’s family.
It was found in a backpack tonight outside a Middleboro firehouse. It belonged to Framingham fire veteran Mike Urban who died of lung cancer earlier this month. The helmet was given to his widow at his funeral and his nephew was in charge of holding on to it.
But Mike's nephew was forced to abandon his car when it broke down in last week’s snowstorm right after the funeral. Someone broke into the car and stole the helmet.
