Firehouse World will present two classes on Tuesday in regards to the San Bruno Explosion:
San Bruno Explosion and Fire Working Together…
On September 9, 2010 at 6:11 p.m. a 30-inch high-pressure natural gas transmission
pipeline ruptured and exploded at the corner of Glenview Avenue and Earl Street in San
Bruno, CA. The explosion and subsequent fire destroyed 37 homes and damaged 48
others. Approximately 300 homes were evacuated during the incident. Unfortunately, 8
lives were lost. The Glenview incident would test the limits of the Joint Powers
Authority and the Mutual Aid Agreements’ within the State of California. The
presentation on the incident will highlight the initial response along with Command &
Control. The speaker are first responders that will include the first-in Company Officer,
first Battalion Chief on-scene, initial Operations Chief, initial Medical Group Supervisor.
We will also discuss the “After Action” reporting process.
EMS & Recovery Lessons Learned from the San Bruno Explosion
This presentation will take a look at the EMS response to the San Bruno explosion and
outline the take-aways regarding a comprehensive response to large, multi-agency
incidents. We will also discuss the recovery operation that followed the initial response
following the first 24 hours.
