Like what has been said before, hiring is still the same. We have hired 11 off the new list and probably 2-3 more calls will go out shortly if they haven't already. It's tough to decipher what is rumor and what will actually happen. There is a lot of talk, some about new stations, some about new apparatus, but nothing will be set in stone til this SAFER grant is up. As stated before the earliest testing that will probably happen would be as VESmedic said, January '13. And putting the big numbers on at the end of the year would only happen if more rescues hit the road, because I think as you show when times get tough, you can still succeed even with less personnel on the apparatus, not that it's right but when push comes to shove you give up what you need to. Hopefully we can bring on a bunch of motivated, happy to transport individuals haha, good luck to all still waiting, keep the faith even though the job climate around here is miserable, this department is worth it. Take care guys.

Just wondering, are these "permanent" positions, or are these SAFER or other positions? Just wanting to know what the chances of remaining employed will be.

Start studying friends, this will be a good list to be on! If all holds true there will be a lot of positions coming about, which as of lately hasn't been the case. Good Luck!

When E6 and T15 go in service (no date is set) there will be around 24 positions due to promotions and whatnot. The other 24 positions are on a new SAFER grant that will add back the positions lost through attrition. Remember it was 46 to be laid off but there were 24 more slots that weren't even filled at that time making the number much higher to be cut. With transport taking off and no real end in sight to that, pretty safe to say the positions will stay around, you always roll the dice in these situations but it's how much you want to work for a certain department if you can handle the uncertainty.

50 fire questions, 50 ems questions (bls level). The written test is difficult, I'm not sure what books it comes out of now, guess IFSTA ?? Edition and Brady ?? Edition. But the information typically stays the same from what I remember, hit your small text under pictures, lots of questions from that, and ems know you numbers for rates and what not, also be able to work scenario questions. But I took it years ago so my memory might be fading haha.

I have been told that you need to live 30 min or less from Orlando City limits. Any truth to this?
