Does anyone know of any alternatives to the rescue rated sked stretcher? Any alternatives would need to be able to be raised vertically and horizontally.

PMI has something called the Chrysalis. Found it in the paper catalog, but it's not online. It looks like what you're asking for. Never seen one in person.

Not quite the same but big fan of Miller Halfback. Can do a lot with it, except horizontal which was part of the requirement.
Question, what is a SKED not providing you that you are looking for an alternative?~Drew

In my experiences the SKED always seemed to shine through and get the job done. I've trained with one or two of the products that guys mentioned however I always seemed to gravitate towards the SKED. The protection it provides the patient was always a selling point for me.

Well...a STOKES basket is great. For what the SKED is made for you are not going to find anything better.
We have a STOKES basket with a Miller Board and a pediatric "papoos" type board strapped inside it. We also have the SKED for anywhere the STOKES does not fit. You can use a KED inside the SKED if you suspect "C" spine injury.

The OSS is the proper spinal immobilization device for use with SKED. It had a shoulder board that expands the SKED around the shoulders as not to add movement once you "taco" the patient in. OSS is made by Skedco the same company that makes the SKED.
SKED is great. Also very useful for patient with hip/pelvis fracture, adds pressure and limits movement.~Drew
