Funny Picture
It takes a little intelligence to enjoy humor, satire & wit, but none to be offended by it.
It take more than a new Leather Helmet to make you a good officer

In a recent tiller purchase, E-One was beat out by Pierce. The Pierce was
$31,000.00 CHEAPER ,I was told...It was for Quebec City, Que., Canada.
http://www.spiq.ca/v2/vehicules/2011...ier/index.html
E-ONE and Pierce were the only 2 to tender a bid.
Who would have thought....

I've recently seen 10-15 bidders for a Pump when before you'd get maybe 3-5 and some are builders never heard of OR have no dealer or representation just trying to take a shot at getting an order.
Also I've seen Pierce $100K LOW on a Platform and then be $100K high on a 100 ft. Quint go figure... Same goes for Pumpers lately too where there's a $100K spread between the low and high bidder..

Yes I agree and when you ask the FD they say the low bid complied YES to everything even if it wasn't there spec though "they met the intent"...lol There isn't/can't be that much discrepancy because the costs are almost the same for all reputable builders as to components (cab & chassis, pump, warning package etc.) so the only saving is in labour and there again can't be that much of a discrepancy in hourly labor rates so must be the dealer (if applicable) has lowered their commission or the Koolaid ingrediants got cheaper...

The biggest spread in price can be a 'cookie cutter' vs a true custom build truck.

We just had a bid last week where there was a $160K spread between low and high bid. Pumper spec, 3 bidders, roughly 70K between low and middle bids, and the rest brtween middle and high.
Spec favored the highest bidder.
