Keeping my fingers crossed. PF&R is an awesome department

Does anyone have the name of the woman to call in HR for a change of address?

RMRS, I believe the email stated you need to update Recruiting Officer Foster with that.

Did anyone from the trainee list get an email?

I emailed Terry, but at the physical they gave us a name and number of someone at HR to contact, I believe it was the woman who was checking us in. Just want to make sure I'm squared away with the address change. I've called HR a few times but I'm not sure if they are patching me through to the right person, they have not returned my voicemails.

Also, I'm on the trainee list and have not received any emails yet about a freeze.

Hi everyone, I am on the EMT list and received the same e-mail about the freeze. I have talked to one other person on the EMT list and they received the same e-mail as me. I talked to two others on the trainee list and they have not received any e-mails.

In regards to someones question: The e-mail did not state whether we passed or failed the interview. I am not assuming I passed based on the fact I got an e-mail about a freeze. There could be no pass/fail for the interview it could be ranked down to the last person. Not sure how it works but that is a possibility I was discussing with a friend on the trainee list.

HAS ANYONE ON THE EMT LIST NOT RECEIVED THE SAME E-MAIL OR RECEIVED A DIFFERENT ONE?

    Have a good day-

Hi, I talked to a couple more folks and it seems to be the same story. Anyone on the EMT list has received the same letter about the hiring freeze and everyone on the Trainee list has not received any notice yet.
    Have a good one.

Again if anyone has got anything different that they received or didn't receive I would love to hear about it, thanks.

To all the Trainee folks out there, I just got an email today from Terry talking about the hiring freeze. Sounds like there is a short list that should hear back by the end of May, but the freeze will go till July. Good luck to everyone out there.

Did the email about the hiring freeze to the emt/paramedic candidates also mention a short list that will happen before July?

I'm guessing that means they'll shortlist enough trainees to start a class in July that will merge with a recruit academy in the Fall.

Thats usually how they do it. I was hoping for a full class of EMT/Paramedics given the retirement situation, but sounds like that's not going to happen. Oh well.

Nobody will know until the new fiscal year which is June. Latest rumor I heard from a PDX FF is a 2M dollar cut which could mean layoffs, rolling blackouts or something else. Outlook is grim but nothing is for sure until june

The Mayors proposed budget is due out this week to be publicly posted I believe in a couple of weeks. I think that will give you a pretty good idea as to how bad it will be. DblBlack is right though, if they cut two million that's two stations according to their requested budget. The outlook is definitely grim right now, but as a buddy of mine who works up there says "they always manage to find millions lying around somewhere to pay for these things". Hopefully they find those millions again.

The proposed budget it out and you can find it here:

    Proposed Budget Documents

It looks like (and I'm no expert at reading a budget) he is proposing cutting 9 FTE's (none are line personnel) and will not be funding one of the rescues. The other rescue looks like it's getting a one time influx to fund it. Not sure how much this proposed budget will change by June, but at this point it looks a little more promising than before.
