I'm heading south March 31st for a week long visit to Virginia - will be in the Williamsburg, Norfolk, Gloucester area.....anyone here in those areas?
I'm planning on 1 day at Busch Gardens, will be up in DC for 2 days for an NFPA meeting, and will be spending time with family.....
BUT - I will have free time to do some visiting too!

PK - I think they keep starting over....although, as I remember from my last drive down - as long as I stay to the west of Philly I should be ok....I HOPE!

Haha, they just start over.
Couple of good over nighters round here. I'm the next county up outside of Philly. Let me know when you get closer to a planned route of travel and I'll get ya the good ones....and the ones to avoid Lol. Just to my west would be FWD, how could also help the effort!

Don't buy gas past about 8PM around Williamsburg, that's when most people go out to hassle anyone at the pump. One of the better places to go is Endview Plantation, it's in newport news and maybe 20 minutes away from Williamsburg center. Stay clear of New Town Williamsburg unless absolutly necessary and many of the chain brands of hotels (With the exception of holiday inns) are... unclean. Best deals in Williamsburg for food would have to be Sal's italiano (IDR may be a little pricey) Red hot and Blue's BBQ, and South of the Border (Best mexican joint on 2nd street : ) ) stay clear though of a local Chinese/Japanese/Mongolian joint called PeeKing. They're one of the few places that charge for refills and it's really expensive, and the last two times I've gotten food poisoning from there, so, not a good place in my opinion.
Not much to do in Glouster, unless you're our airsoft team, we have a Glouster leauge game tommorow, but I don't know if spectators are allowed.
If you're going to hit Busch, start early and you'll be over by about 4, I can say I'm not to fond of the place my self as there's not a whole lot to do there.
I don't usually go up to Norfolk, mainly because of the tunnel and there's not much up there that I do besides hobby shops. Durring the day you should be good, but after dark, grab your MAC-10 and kevlar vest.
Oh, and also, Williamsburg Historic Triangle buses are not running early this year because of budget cutbacks, so if you want to see the triangle, you'll have to drive to each site.

Thanks for the tips - will keep that in mind about buying gas lol....
I'll be at the Windham Kingsgate, gated community so fairly safe...I've been there before too.
I'll be in Glouceester with my Dad - hanging out with him a bit.....
Thanks for the food tip - I may have eaten at that chinese place....is it in the K-Mart plaza?

Really dude?
I live in Norfolk. According to you I should live in a steel fortress with 8inch guns surrounding my house.
EVERY city including Williamsburg has its bad spots. And there is quite a bit to see in Norfolk. Both Naval bases, USS Wisconsin, Admirals hockey, McArthur Memorial, and Nauticus. For those into flowers there is the Botoanical (sp?) Gardens.
I am not even from here, but the constant, "Oh Norfolk is so bad..." is getting old. Newport News is far worse and you're telling the person to go get gas there at night...pot kettleCo 11

I couldn't figure out why my ears kept ringing........
I live in the Lehigh Valley, just outside of the City of Bethlehem, in fact about 2 miles from Exit 67 of Interstate 78, and about 12 miles from the Quakertown Exit (42) of the Northeast Extension of the Pa. Turnpike (Interstate 476.) I'm about 25 miles from mtg (yes matt, believe it or not it really is that far, I was surprised when I drove it 2 weeks ago!!!!)
If you'll be in my neighborhood, I'd be glad to conduct a Fire Inspection of a drinking and/or eating establishment with you. If you want to overnight it around here, look up the Holiday Inn Select on Cherry Lane in Bethlehem, right down the street from my house. And may I recommend that if you come here, rather than going down 476 to I95, take 78 West to Harrisburg, and take 81/83 south. MUCH better and easier ride to the DC/Richmond area than I95.
EDIT: And now that the heavy rains have washed away all the salt on the roads, as long as it stays nice out and no more salt is needed, you might be able to talk me into pulling "the toy" outside and go around the block a few times.Last edited by FWDbuff; 02-26-2011 at 08:25 PM.
