Piphill, I think i depends what kinda person you are.
Everyone during the practices is being watched, and there are usually a bunch of Chief's rolling through.
If you are friendly, outgoing, and a hard worker, I think it's a great opportunity to meet some of the people that will be sitting on your board, as well as other ff's. It's a chance to show you are a hard worker by helping reset the course.
Interact with the other candidates as well.

When we see a guy that's workin hard, friendly to the other people, not afraid to come up and introduce himself to us, well, that's kinda the type person you'd wanna work with, isn't it?

Anyone have info on the PAT? I was unable to make it for the orientation day. Is it anything like the CPAT?

Also, the information we got at the practice sessions:

PATs in the 2nd week of October (that's two weeks from now, folks!)
    Oral boards in November/December
Recruit class in early spring (approximately 20)

I don't remember how many they said they send to the PATs, but approximately 60 to oral boards, and from that, a class of 17.

Did they say when those who are actually getting invites would get them?

In July, we received phone calls about a week before the scheduled dates for the PAT and we were given a choice between several days that following week.

I don't know the "true" answer to this, but based on my own conjecture, since the packets are due the 29th, and they probably need some time to review those, I would put calls going out somewhere around October 5th or 6th.

    But that's just me.

The PHQ time frame is now closed. Will be waiting by the phone for the PAT invite mid October!

    Congrats, FireHire!

I just scheduled mine for Thursday. It looks like they're calling for Wednesday/Thursday/Friday time frames today and tomorrow.

    Best of luck to everyone!

Yea I think so too. Seams so far like there inviting the same people as last time. Not sure what there selection process is. There still taking people from bands like 22 and from 8. I don't think your rank, experience, or background matters. I know of someone who got into the last academy ranked 24. Not sure why I studied to test well if that doesn't matter.

Yeah this is really frustrating. And I really don't understand why they've had so many people fill out the pre-hire packet twice now if they had no intention of inviting them forward. I took the test with a group of about a dozen (my friends and friends of my friends) and of the 12 of us, the lowest band was 17 and the highest was 4 and not one of us have been invited to a physical on either occasion.

Last round I know a person who was called the day before the PAT and invited, so there is still a chance. Plus there is going to be another round/academy from this list, so I have heard. Got to stay positive.

    Default Physical

Took the physical yesterday. Passed it with total time of 6:09. Was definately a harder physical than most others out there. Now the waiting game begins... I was told they were going to take 55-60 people to the next round depending on the number they were going to hire

Good job! Did they give you any idea of the time frame? Before Thanksgiving? After Christmas...?

No timeframe given. I didn't think to ask. I'll post if I hear anything.

I haven't heard anything, not a peep, yet. I was sort of estimating it would be within the next week or two if the interviews are scheduled for November.

    Anybody else heard anything??
