First of all, deerfield merger is taking up all their resources so nothing is happening at the moment. They will be contacting us in october, with November now being our earliest start date. However it looks like there may be one more step in the process.

Also I believe there are 50 of us left after the interviews.

There are I think 24 in the first class they intend to hire.

I called about three weeks ago and they said that the conditional offer is good for one year and that they haven't put anybody on yet. The wait continues!

    Default Not a waste!!!

I will tell you from personal experience that the MESH Test is NOT a waste of time!!!

I was hired off the very first MESH Test in 2000. I have participated is some capacity in every MESH Test given ever since (evaluator on up). I know HUNDREDS of candidates who have been hired via the MESH Testing process.

In general, people who score well on the test but fail to gain employment is usually due to a background or psych test issue. Some departments are very strict in regards to their background screening. And most people have a difficult time passing psych evaluations.

As more department begin to have veteran firefighters retire in the coming years, you will see another spike in employment opportunities. "Rumor" has it that between Miami-Dade Fire Department and BSO Fire Department there will be over 300 retirees in the next two years.

Good luck to everyone taking the MESH Test in MARCH 2012
    Situation dictates proceedure!

The M.E.S.H test is a test used by a number of departments in both Broward and Miami in which they compile a list and hire off of for the position of firefighter/emt and paramedic. The test is not actually held by the department but an outside entity. BSO stands for Browards Sheriff Office and this whole post is in reference to a number of us testing and interviewing with them. Some recieved a conditional job offer for this fire department.

I'll tell you what, the applying for jobs with testing and everything that goes along with it is like a full time job. Enjoy the process, I promise there are jobs out there. I was chosen 3 times in 2011 so believe me there are jobs out there. Good luck applying.

Yeah the MESH test is legit. I scored 99 on fire and 100 on medics with a 3:18 PAT time and I got called from 3 or 4 depts. I'm now working, and it was definitely worth the wait

I scored pretty much the same and wasn't contacted by departments who contacted people i know who scored well under me. Weird way they pick who they contact but still worth it.

Has anyone here who recieved a conditional offer heard anything yet? I heard that there going to be putting on 20 people but haven't got a call! Was curious if anyone started their background check yet?

Did anyone get their new 2012 scores? Word is the departments have them and will be contacting high scores pretty soon.

Guys I was wondering I scored a 88 on my medic and a 84 on my fire is that a good enough score to even be considered for any dept?

What I have heard from people who have been hired is that you have to be in the top 90's or perfect.

Then again I scored 100,98,96 last year and didn't get anything out of it. My scores are still good this year so we'll see. But you never know man. If you'd like you can always retest and try to score higher.

    Good luck!

I just received a letter from Hallandale Beach. Anyone have any insight? My scores were 88 on both the fire and paramedic written and 100 on the practical.

I received a letter also And they are a small dept so either you get lucky or you better know someone cause they usually hire 1-4 people
