I have no idea what you are trying to describe. Perhaps that is something exclusive to your fire station or region?

Yeah, sounds like something someone at your firehouse came up with and made.

You guys just aren't trying to be helpful.

I think this is what he's talking about:

    Something like this?

Try searching for "tower lights." You'll get some returns for radio tower lighting, and some like the one in the picture.

You should be able to find it right next to the muffler bearings just above the diesel sparkplugs at your local walmart.

Just a wild guess but I'd say its something like a call indicator box. Red for a fire call, blue for EMS, yellow for a hazzard. Just guessing.
We have one at our station, although our "yellow" was a white lens instead. It hasn't been used/working in over 10 years but that is what was explained to me on how it operated when I asked. It worked in conjunction with the old phone alert system, before pagers came in to existence in my department.

You are correct sir. I have seen them on apparatus for many of years, dating way back!

I don't think he was putting them down, as up in his area they are used as well.

Amateurs practice until they get it right; professionals practice until they cannot get it wrong. Which one are you?

'The fire went out and nobody got hurt' is a poor excuse for a fireground critique.
