We have used these for quite some time. They work especially well if the scene is around a corner and not visible until the last minute. Most of the time people can see the lights and figure out it is an emergency scene, but I guess every little bit helps.
Any reputable fire equipment dealer can get these for you. They come in two sizes, 36 inch and 48 inch and fold for somewhat easy storage.
