Sure it's the Air Force. It's easy to sit around all day and do plenty of CDCs to build up your resume when you go on 20 runs a year, your service runs the program, and you rarely deploy. Marines/Soldiers/Sailors are usually too busy fighting the war and performing military duties to take Fire Officer III as an E-4.

Want to bet there are more former Marine infantrymen who are now members of the FDNY/LAFD/Chicago FD than former USAF FireDawgs?

I've never really considered myself a zoomie... Hercs don't really zoom. They kinda lumber along, turning fuel into noise and frightening ducks and geese and rabbits and stuff. I do, however, get to wear the snazzy green suit that the chicks seem to go for.

I hate the Marine Corps dress blues...

And when I say hate, I really mean I love it, and I wish the AF would adopt something similar.

Obviously you have never taken off with JATO packs strapped on.

Ah, weedhopper.... Hercs can zoom! I was with the 109th, the only USAF Hercs that could zoom and ski!

I love the Herc. Only plane I could ever truly sleep on. Even today. And to strap in and hang legs off....

I have the joy of flying on C-130J-30's. The largest and fastest Hercs around. They still don't zoom.

You put skis and JATO on a H, then skid it down the ice, you are zooming....

Put it in the air, and it tends to slow a bit though!
