Nice trucks all! Those pics of the Boise unit in production were great- that looks like a nice beefy body they're building!!
Who built that midmount platform?
That big ol Rosenbauer tanker body makes that 2 door cab look tiny in comparison. doesn't it?Last edited by Nozzle nut 22; 03-30-2011 at 11:55 PM. Reason: reading is fundamental

Sumter County...
Been busy in this part of the world. Here are a few of the grants for this area...
2,500 gallon Tanker (Siloam - 2009) underway for a car carrier on fire.

All three of the tankers in the battalion (2009 - Siloam and Ward, 2008 - Whitfield). The Siloam and Ward tankers are identical and the only difference in the Whitfield tanker is the lack of the front bumper and 2200 gallon capacity.

2009 also saw the area hit a $64,000 training grant. We purchase much needed training aids and books for a instruction program. The South Sumter group currently teaches 1 Volunteer 160 per year (NFPA 1001) and plenty of smaller classes. We are also developing a few courses and are currently home for the online class that is being tested.

2008 brought a radio communcation grant to the area that was centered at Cuba Fire. The grant purchased new repeaters and radio equipment for any department in the county that wanted to participate. Members from South Sumter departments took down the county school board towers and put them back up at deparmtent expense. The new equipment was placed on these towers and the radio system is now working and covering the area.

There were other smaller grants for departments replacing turnout gear and older hose. In 2010 Ward Fire recieved new hose, PPE and SCBA. Cuba recieved a TIC and medical equipment that was needed. We are currently working on one station in the area that has not received any grant funds and hopefully we will replace their truck this year. They are in grave need of a replacement since the 1974 Mack they are running is no longer safe or reliable.
Wishing everyone the best for 2011!

No offense, but from a tower guy's point of view, I would drop the pictures that have violations of OSHA regs from your tower pages. No hard hats, (on both ground and climber) questionable 100% tie off, (only one available, you can't climb with just one) etc.
There have been a number of occasions where OSHA (and at least one in a non-osha state where the state got involved) has fined people based on pictures showing offenses.
It does look like a great re-use of those towers. Very impressive
With that aside, who built the tankers? They look great.Last edited by LVFD301; 04-02-2011 at 10:55 PM. Reason: Giving credit where it is due

Thanks for the heads up on the pictures... Many thanks for the congratulations on the progress. We still have a long way to go, but we are at least making progress toward a goal that we believe is worthy of our efforts!
It is what we feed those boys... I do have my share of giants!
