Help send The Cactus Cuties to the 2012 Superbowl in Indy
Many people know I’m a Huge fan of The Cactus Cuties, out of Lubbock Texas, based at Lubbock’s Cactus Theater. The Cuties have become quite well known for their singing talents, having sung in many venues across the nation, even singing for President Bush at The White House. Through all of this, they manage to stay normal, decent, young girls while STILL having more talent in their respective little fingers than many ‘Star’s’ have in total.
In short, The Cuties rock. And the song that got them noticed? The National Anthem.
After suffering through Christina Aguilera’s…er…rendition of the National Anthem at this year’s Super Bowl, and thinking ‘Lubbock is 298 miles away (Yep…I checked). A one hour plane ride…WHY oh WHY… The Cuties actually sang The National Anthem at Cowboy Stadium, at a pro football game. Just not at the Super Bowl.
Several (Hundred) Cutie fans decided to give it the Old School Try (With the help of New School Technology) and see if we could get the girls invited to sing The Star Spangled Banner at next years Super Bowl. A Facebook page was created towards that goal, as well as an Online petition.
So yep…this is basically a Please help Send The Cuties to Indy post…and have The Star Spangled Banner sung by a group of young ladies who love their country, respect the National Anthem, and sing it with the respect and reverence it deserves.
To show just how awesome the girls are…
Here’s a website with both a link to The Cuties singing The National Anthem at Cowboy’s Stadium in August ’09, and the petition site:
The Original (Back when there were five of them)…posted in Feb ‘08 by Madeline Powell’s (The youngest of the girls, and the one that nails the high note on ‘Free’) grandfather so some relatives could hear and see the performance. It got 3 million hits in about a month:
