Greetings,
Not to try and make things confusing (with dual posting) I wanted some input on this thread from folks in NY who may be familiar with the laws. (Red Light on POV in NY)
Admins - I hope im not overstepping user policy but I am trying to get an answer on this question.
Thanks - NoCoFire

I think the other thread pretty well covered all the bases regarding NYS law.
What's actually allowed for lights is covered in V&T law.
As for only using a red light on the scene - why bother? If you need it to protect your vehicle, use amber.
Of course, there have been many threads on the forum ad nauseum in which it was frequently opined that red lights and POVs should be mutually exclusive.
When I was chief, I often shut my reds down on scene, even if I was using my vehicle as the CP. It's that much less distraction.Opinions my own. Standard disclaimers apply.
Everyone goes home. Safety begins with you.

what is your question?
Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs can run red lights and sirens in NYS - as pointed out in the referenced link.
What else is confusing you regarding this?
