I don't really have any prior knowledge of this, so I figured I would ask on here.
What are the hours like for you guys?
Is it significantly different for volunteer vs. paid?
Does it create problems for those of you with families?
Does it create problems for those of you who have other jobs? (referring to volunteers)
Do you ever have to get called out of those jobs?

The Department I'm on is a combination department..we have 9 fulltime members that work a 24 hr shift, 3 ffs per shift..they work 7a-7a. As for our 'paid per call' part-time staff...we dont really have any "required" hours that we have to put in each month so it's pretty much just make the calls and training when you can..we have training every other monday night for roughly 2-3hours..as for the family interuption part, i'm only 24, no children and my wife is usually pretty cool about me running out at various times of the day to run calls lol..I do have a full-time job and if I'm scheduled to work there, I ususally keep an eye on the time if a call goes out and I think it may run into my scheduled work time..in the event that it does, they are pretty good with me being a bit late and just making up the time"First In, Last Out"
