I haven't been a member of these forums very long. But, I have already noticed (after one look in the archives) that trolls are quickly weeded out. So, I figured I would post some tips that I ran across in a past forum
The first rule of Troll hunting is simple:
Don't Feed the Troll
Trolls thrive on attention, the more attention they get, the more they come back to disrupt a forum.
When you spot a Troll, here's what you should do:
Report the Troll's post(s) to a Moderator. In this forum's case it's as easy as clicking on the icon below the Troll's name to send a report to the Webteam.
Resist the urge to post a reply telling the Troll that you have reported him. Trolls take any reply -- no matter how negative or positive as reinforcement.
Ignore the Troll's posts. Once again, this forum provides the option to place the Troll on your Ignore list. Do so right away. If you don't even read the Troll's posts you won't be tempted to respond to them.
Once you spot a Troll thread, resist the urge to even read it. Doing so only increases the thread's "Views" and shows the Troll that he's getting the attention he craves so badly.
Understand that Trolls are impotent little cowards who believe that they gain power by anonymously provoking a response to their posts. Don't give them the satisfaction of a reply and they will eventually go away. If they don't go away, who cares? You're already ignoring them as if they didn't exist anyway.

Your suggestions lead to boredom. Tattling is the weak way out. Many trolls respect a good exchange. The ones that don't can be pushed to raeg fairly easily.Logic and proportion have fallen sloppy dead.

The boy has 4 posts so far, and 2 of them were this. He is a troll himself. Lets see how he does in a good exchange.

Don't feed trolls after midnight and never get them wet.I am now a past chief and the views, opinions, and comments are mine and mine alone. I do not speak for any department or in any official capacity. Although, they would be smart to listen to me.
"The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But it's still on the list."
"When tempted to fight fire with fire, remember that the Fire Department usually uses water."

I think the term "troll" has been used too loosely here.
I'm with Johnny. Accept them into your world, let them feel comfortable. True trolls hate comfortable.IAFF

I think fog nozzles suck, plastic helmets are rediculous, and blue lights should be outlawed."Loyalty Above all Else. Except Honor."
