Default should a shift officer handle an union problem

My department has the luxuary of a Chief which allows the local union at the department to dictate the overtime policy and how it is ran. Members of my shift (not all my shift) have a problem with how the overtime is ran. After several attempts by themselves to talk and fix the issue they are asking me to handle it since I am their shift officer. The majority or consensus of the rest of the local union do not have an issue with it and are content with the the policy as I am myself. I feel that since the local union handles the policy that this is a union issues and needs to be handled by the executive board of the local union and not myself. My questions is this wrong to feel or think this way?

For a first post, this screams, "Troll!"

The Code is more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules.

    I agree.

I will also say that absolutely NO WAY should an arm of management (an officer) be handling how overtime is dictated/handled/enforced/whatever.

This should be something that goes through I & I Bargaining and jointly agreed upon by Management and the Union.

Deputy Marshall, I was looking for opinions on the issue not name calling. Someone needs to stop "trolling" around the forums and grow up themselves. Not very professional for a deputy marshall
