I just got a pair of Smoke Jumpers and im wondering whats the best way to break them in.
I wear them.
Put them on, stand in water trough until they are completely soaked, and wear them a FULL day! or until they are dry.
I use boot oil and wear them.
It helps to hike hills so that they get broken in for the type of terrain that causes the worst damage to feet.... ups and downs.
Thanks for the input everyone, and any suggestions for what type of socks i should get?
I wear two pair of socks... actually, just plain ol' cotton socks.
Whatever you wear, wear two pair. The socks rub against each other instead of against your skin (at least it reduces it).
I swear that's the secret of the good condition of my feet in my logger boots.
I like the regular cotton socks with wool or wool blend socks over those for my two pair. Gives a little more cushion for those 16hr days spent entirely on your feet.
I just saw this... How I break mine in are I soak them in water and wear them while I'm mucking corrals. Well that's how I did it when we had horses... Works really well, but i suggest that you wash them off before coming back in the house; Mama was upset about the mess..... :D
I break mine in just like I described but I wear thick socks...
Once they dry, oil them real good and wear them some more.
