Default 2011 Ford Diesel Pickup Shutdown (Emissions Reduction)

We have a 2011 F350 diesel P/U and it has the automatic engine shutdown after idling for 10 minutes. This is an incredible nuisance. Is there any way to disable this or bypass iit? With all the emergency lights, headlights and scene lights on, my fear is we will have a dead vehicle one of these days.

    Thanks

Wow, I did not know they did that. Does it also happen in high-idle when the parking brake is on?
I can't believe they actually pay me to do this!!!

One friend noted yesterday that a fire officer only carries a flashlight, sometimes prompting grumbling from firefighters who have to lug tools and hoses.
"The old saying is you never know how heavy that flashlight can become," the friend said.

The 47A package is an ambulance package.

I'm the one Fire and Rescue calls, when they need to be Rescued.

I found this. I guess if we can figure out a way to send a signal saying its in PTO mode we can override it??? How would one go about doing this?

This is a simple 4 door cab diesel pickup, not an ambulance, no PTO features. Just a utility truck with tool boxes, radios, lights and a siren.

Have you tried talking to the dealer or FoMoCo? What happens if you were to put the tranny in "P", get out and chaulk the wheels, then get back in and put the tranny in "N"?

Depending on "as sold" configuration, you MAY need to have the PCM reprogrammed by the Ford dealer. In some of the F line certain parameters are NOT Factory enabled.Easily done but it will have be read by the dealer to know for sure. YES,the shutdown can be reconfigured. T.C.

Any Ford dealer service center can plug in and reprogram that BS.
Even the burger-flippers at McDonald's probably have some McWackers.

Deals specifically with idle shutdown of Superduty series. OP was NJ so he's stuck with Ca emissions nonsense.

Perhaps if need exended idle enable DPF regen manually? Temp. at best.
