Spend the money and get Globe boots. Your feet will thank you.

Best investment I have ever made.

I like the Globe Boots...however, has anyone actually used these newer Fire Dex leather composites?......

    comfort?......durability?..... wear?.......Opinions?.....

I tried them on at FDIC and wasn't all too impressed. They felt too much like a rubber boot to me. Also the weight wasn't the best. However, I was impressed with the grip they seemed to have (albeit it tried on the little roof they had there). Plus the fit wasn't just my style...but I have rather wide feet, so take that bit with a grain of salt

I also tried them on at FDIC and they didn't do anything for me. (I may be biased towards Globe as I own two pairs of their fire boots and a pair of their USAR boots ) One of my buddies bought a pair of the Fire Dex and is so far regretting it.

I refuse to wear anything with the FireDex name on it. Pretty much junk IMO.

I had a pair of Haix (FD issue). You'll get what you're paying for. Same as a Yugo

Very very tough to beat Thorogood in bang for the buck/for the price. I haven't seen a brand that could. I bought my own.

I'd never consider buying a pair of $200 boots that couldn't be resoled (see Globe). You can't be bothered to break in a pair of boots to fit your feet just stay home with the girls.

If I get to the point of needing to resole my fire boots, I probably just need a new pair anyway.

Everyone here that has Haix likes them. Thier station boots are awesome. I have had the opposite expirience you had with Thorogood. I will never buy another pair.

In my opinion, the cheapest leather boots will beat the most expensive rubber boots any day of the week.

I am a big fan of the Globe boots, have a pair that I personally bought for use at my Volunteer department and I absolutely love them. My career department recently purchased Cosmas Titan boots for us. They are nice as well but I still prefer my Globe's.

I agree with above, stay away from Fire-Dex, haven't tried their boots but went from Globe G-Xtreme gear to Fire-Dex and talk about a downgrade.
