    Unhappy Waiting is Unfun

Just waiting for H.R. to call me from my most favoritest department ever. This is absolute torture. Been through every step and unless I failed one of the last pass/fail portions I'm in there like swimwear.

    That is all.

Understand. What were the last steps?

You probably would have heard already if you failed. That news gets out fast.

    Good luck.

Chiefs, Medical, Psych. HR told me they were just waiting on the report from the shrink. When I was doing my psych interview, he told me "I had nothing to worry about from him." The interview only lasted about 15 minutes. I know I am over analyzing every single little thing but I canít help it. I will be so happy once I get out of this rat race at the office.

I think itís a pretty big deal to get removed from list and they have to get approval from the Civil Service Commission. Thatís just a hypothesis though.

If you didn't pass the chiefs you would not have moved forward the conditional offer of the medical which includes the psych.

Our experience has been if a candidates interview with the doc was only 15 minutes they almost always passed.

Hear this all too often. It's normal. This final stages of the process usually takes longer than anyone plans. Again if you failed you probably would have heard by now.

Now you have to stay off the phone. You don't want to be quickly known as the one who just couldn't wait. Take a recess. I'm sure you will let us know when you get the news.

The HR lady told me she would be making offers "early this week." Academy starts kinda soon. Should I wait until tomorrow to call? I also am going through a background but the Investigator told me everything looks good when I was having my interview. She said ďas long I donít find anything you didnít put downĒ I was fine, which of course I didnít. Iíd like to think that my BI would call me if they found anything out of the ordinary and not just eliminate me.

I'd rather not say at this juncture if that's alright.

That's awesome man, way to go. Patience is the #1 attribute for a firefighter candidate, I have so learned.

I'm in the top 5 of a particular department after orals, got the first chief's interview and am pretty sure I'd have been hired but am in the process of moving and the chiefs were aware of the conflict of my move with the first batch of candidates. I told them I'm fully prepared to start immediately and have everything setup and organized to do so but they knew my family would be moving without me... Was my dream job but the list will be there for 2 years and he made mention of hiring more in July. I pray pray pray this is the case and my name is called.

But, the silence can be deafening!
